HEIC → PNG is the lossless path. If you're editing in Photoshop or Illustrator, PNG is safer than JPG.
HEIC vs. JPG vs. PNG
| Format | Lossy? | Transparency? | File size |
|---|---|---|---|
| HEIC | Yes | Yes (rare) | Smallest |
| JPG | Yes | No | Small |
| PNG | No | Yes | Largest |
Why PNG from HEIC
- No quality loss during conversion
- Full 8-bit or 16-bit color preserved
- Better for further editing (no JPEG artifacts)
- Transparency support if the HEIC has alpha
The trade-off
PNG files are 5–10× larger than the HEIC source. If size matters, use HEIC → JPG instead.
Batch
Drop multiple HEICs → get PNGs → ZIP download.
