Websites load slowly because of images. Emails get blocked because of attachments. Compress Image fixes both.
Two compression types
**Lossy** — removes imperceptible detail. Typical savings: 60–80%. **Lossless** — re-encodes without dropping data. Typical savings: 10–30%.
Quality settings
- **95–100%** — archival, no visible change, large files
- **80–90%** — web-optimized, invisible difference, small files
- **60–75%** — social media, slight softening, tiny files
- **40–55%** — thumbnails, preview images
The 80% sweet spot
For most web use cases, 80% quality produces images indistinguishable from the original at 60–70% smaller size.
Batch processing
Drop 100 images at once. Each processes in parallel. Download as ZIP.
Format-specific
- **JPG** — lossy is fine
- **PNG** — use lossless (lossy destroys transparency)
- **WEBP** — already efficient; 90% quality is aggressive enough
- **SVG** — SVG optimizers strip redundancy; no quality loss ever
